Feel after him

I'm listening to Neville's lectures, and I also have them in books and go to them quite often. I'm imprinting the teachings on my mind, and it reminded me of something from decades ago.

Twenty-something years ago, I learned this but had forgotten about it. I had quit a Christian congregation that felt more like a cult. One of the people who managed it said to me, but you have to come to church and meet God. I promptly replied: No, not according to scripture that says go into thy room and close the door. They said nothing. I knew something was wrong with how people are told to come to churches and be prayed for, and that often entails someone coming up to you, laying hands on you and then shoving you to the floor, only to then shout, look the presence of god is so strong here that people fall under it. So, I have always known what Neville always said, he hears you in private, somewhere else I read, battles are won in the bed. That doesn't mean that I have to go to bed with someone to win, you go to your own room, close the door and mentally voice your requests. Then you thank him, who is inside you. You can be of all religions or not believe in a god. But face it, everyone believes in somethng and I'm a follower of using what you already believe in; to use the teachings and make them work with your ingrained belief system. Neville's teachings resonate with me because deep within I know this, even if at times I was so confused that I chased everything and everyone who seemed to have better knowledge. I have studied with witches, Buddhists, new age teachers, everything. Then something like this comes along, and suddenly, everything falls into place. It was I, all the while, who had all the answers.

Neville was at the forefront of the New Thought movement. He taught the bible scriptures in a way that made many Christians very angry and offended. Yet, when you go and read the scriptures, you see what he was talking about, and it makes perfect sense to you. He says that God is your own human imagination, and then you can use it, not as historical facts, but as inspiration for something completely different, but as you get what he was saying, you also see another truth that makes far more sense. It makes sense when you think about it. If you're supposed to go into your room, away from others, and pray in silence, then who is there listening? Only you. If prayers are to be made in silence and then believed to be already answered, who is then granting them? You. If your thoughts are seen, who is seeing them? This takes nothing from God; he is moved inside, and that is what is said in scripture when Jesus says: I come and take my residence in you. Where then do you meet him? Inside yourself.

So, how did he tell us to use that imagination? In the quiet, when you are going to sleep, shut out everything in the world. Everything that happened, everything you saw, everything you worry about. Takes practice. Because the last thing you think about when you drift off to sleep is what you manifest because of my conditions and anxiety, that was especially hard. My life was a mess at that time, and I was getting nowhere. My life was full of unanswered prayers, confusion, struggles, and all the rest of it. Start small, you will get there.

  • Define what you want. For the best results, it is best to know exactly and then to think from it, meaning, think as if you already have it. As you already are what you wish to be. I want to emphasise an important point. I've heard some therapists say that you need to heal deep issues within yourself in order to move forward. However, I've also heard Neville state that this isn't necessary. According to him, based on grace, all you need to do is recognise that you are seen as pure in the eyes of Christ. Regardless of your past, no questions asked. What you desire is absolutely possible; simply ask or claim it, and it IS yours.

  • Then comes the relaxing into it. Just like you're going to sleep and everything is done, nothing is left to do at that time. This has required a bit of technique for me. Tomorrow doesn't matter, neither does yesterday. Only now. Preferably, the only thing on your mind should be your wish manifested and nothing else, at that time, possibility, ethics, nothing at all. You are only giving this experience to yourself, and it doesn't concern anybody else; you're not taking from anybody, you're only giving to yourself. Don't worry about the how; just know that you have it at that particular time.

  • Neville talks about giving your desire all the tones of reality that you can. But he also says that not everyone can visualise perfectly, or is equally developed the same way in every sense, so whatever you can muster is enough. Just don't let anything disturb your vision or wander too much. always go back. Here, he talks about a state akin to sleep, you're not fast asleep, you have not entirely lost consciousness, but close to it, like drowsy. Keep your fulfilled wish in your consciousness, experience it as if you're actually living it. Nothing else, just your fulfilled wish that is done. You can thank God in you for having heard, or just feel whatever you think you would feel had that wish been fulfilled. God is in you, they know.

  • Drift off to sleep in your fulfilled wish. Job done. No questions asked. When you fall asleep, it has become natural in you, its bound to materialise. Leave it. If at any time any doubts or fear arise, shut it out, don't give it any energy. That's why people often say, just forget it and move on, they are not allowed anymore. What you did is perfectly good. Neville interpreted the passage: Satan only comes to steal, kill and destroy. In his interpretation, the name means doubt, and doubt ruins everything. Simple as that.

With all this said, Neville often told stories of other situations that you could manifest in, but the principle is always the same: forget everything other than your wish fulfilled, be it on the bus, in a plane, or at the salon. The place or time doesn't matter, just that you do it where you can for a moment shut out everything around you and get into

the feeling, thinking of whatever implies that you are living your dream.
